I've lived in Galloway for the past 8 years, so looking after it's beautiful landscape and special qualities is something close to my heart. The Galloway National Park Association is at the forefront of trying to make Galloway Scotland's third National Park. I was brought into the GNPA communications team at quite an early stage to try and steer their branding in the right direction.
The first instinct when working with a group focused on landscape and wilderness is to bring those elements into the design. However this is not a logo for a National Park, and it was not the GNPA's call to say what natural elements are distinctly "Galloway". I wanted to create a simple brand that could work alongside, and on top of, photographs of the region so that all parts of Galloway could be represented.
